DG: Excerpts from D.W. Griffith’s Greatest Films

Who is the greatest motion picture director to have ever lifted a megaphone? Is it Steven Spielberg? George Lucas? Orson Wells? How about Frank Capra or Cecil B. DeMille? Who ever you think may be the greatest, all motion picture directors and producers owe their art to the man many consider to be the father of modern motion pictures, David Wark Griffith. His films are the subject of today’s FamSite.

Called DG: Excerpts from D.W. Griffith’s Greatest Motion Pictures, this site gives cyber visitors a chance to see actual film clips from some of the greatest and most controversial films ever produced. Through the magic of the Internet, one can view scenes from “Birth of a Nation”, “Intolerance”, “Way Down East”, and “Orphans of the Storm”, as well as some of his short subjects. There are several scenes from each film available to be viewed. There is an excellent set of links to other sites relating to Mr. Griffith, as well as his stars, such as Dorothy and Lillian Gish, Donald Crisp, and Mabel Normand.
